NEAPOLITAN Bearded Male Painted Terracotta And Wood CRECHE Figure 16"
This was once a very elegant LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY Creche figure, probably created for a noble home. Today the remnants of his red silk clothing is proof of his once holy splendor. He has a classic Neapolitan face with molded brown hair and beard, glass eyes, serene expression, carved wood figure, standing with hands expressively posed. He has painted and gesso wooden head, arms, and legs, and body molded with hemp stuffing.
Figure 16 inches tall and is missing a fingers on his right hand and his foot is broken.
