Lance Vaiben Solomon (Australian, 1913-1989) oil painting, "Quiet Pastures, New South Wales"

Born in Liverpool, Australia in 1913, Lance Solomon studied at the East Sydney Technical College as well as at the Royal Academy in London. Solomon was awarded the Government Traveling Scholarship in 1939 and the Wynne Prize in 1946 and 1953. His works are part of the collection of the state galleries in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane.

Solomon was known for his soft renditions of the Australian landscapes, as is evidenced in "Quiet Pastures, New South Wales." With impressionistic brushstrokes and earthen tones, Solomon captures the atmospheric affects of a misty day in the fields. "Quiet Pastures, New South Wales" is an oil on canvas on board measuring 10" x 12". The painting is signed lower right, and inscribed "Quiet Pastures, Sco... Lance Solomon, F.R.A.S." The painting is framed in a carved dark gold frame. Framed size is 12 1/2" x 15". Both painting and frame are in good condition.
