C.E. Lessing, "In the Garden Courtyard" oil painting

20th century German oil painting, signed C.E. Lessing, of a garden courtyard. The painting is an oil on wood measuring 9" x 5", and is framed in a carved dark wood frame with gold liner. Framed size is 15 1/2" x 11 1/2". The painting depicts a figure sits quietly in the shadows at the edge of the courtyard fountain as the sunlight shines down on the house at the top of the stairs.

There are several artists named "Lessing" listed in Davenport's. All are German, but none have the initials "C.E." However, this is a very competently painted painting, with an interesting composition and design. The work is in very good condition.
