Sengbusch Porcelain Roller stamp & envelope moistener - 1050's
This is a really nice vintage Sengbusch porcelain roller moistener. It operates like this. You fill the rectangular porcelain basin with water and when you swipe stamps, glue-backed tape, envelope flaps, etc. across the roller, the glue on the item is moistened with the water from the basin so that they can stick on letters, packages, etc. The entire unit is made of glazed porcelain. However, the bottom of the unit is unglazed. To protect the surface the unit is set on four non marring rubber feet on the bottom. The unit is stamped on the bottom as follows: "Sengbusch No. 3 Ideal Major, Milwaukee, Wis. Made in USA" This is a great vintage office collectors piece, and it sure beats licking stamps and envelopes!!! This item is in overall excellent condition, no chips, cracks or repairs. This great vintage item is from the l950's era. It measures 2 3/4" wide x 2" deep x 8 1/8" long. The roller is 5 7/8" long and l 3/8" in diameter. Thanks for your interest in our treasures at Hibiscus.
