An old table top with one of the best painted decorations seen in some time. It adds sophisticated architectural interest in any room and is a nice example of early 20th century folk art.
It has a demi-lune shape and was hand painted with a delicate garland of leaves along the outer edge. Background paint is a light grey green. The leafy garland was expertly decorated with sage and jade green leaves.
Measures approximately 11 inches x 24 1/2 inches. As you can see there's quite a bit of age on this piece. The top was probably painted sometime around 1900 but I can't say for certain.
There is surface crazing and the back has a dark patina. The top had metal legs at some point but those are long gone and there are holes where they were attached.
