Superbly woven and excellent color on this Victorian overshot coverlet.
It was probably made sometime around 1880 and the pattern looks like a small scale Chariot Wheel.
Unusual color scheme of bittersweet orange, navy blue and natural linen. Single panel. The fabric is linen and wool and the ends are hand hemmed. Measures about 6 feet 5 inches x 6 feet 11 inches.
Overall condition is very good for this type of item. There are some small thin areas scattered around the cloth (about 8 or 10) which can be rewoven, bit of fade at one end and a small spot that the linen color minimizes.
