This is a rosewood box, inlaid with mother of pearl. The handle is steel. The escutcheon is also mother of pearl. This attractive box is missing part of the lock, (visible in the pictures). All of the floral inlay is intact, no pieces missing. The lid of the box is domed. It is 19th. century. The secondary wood seems to be pine. It is 5.5" long and 1 and 3/4" deep, and 1 and 3/4" high. I purchased this box in England, but my feeling is that it is of continental origin. Very well made and very handsome. Shipping and insurance is included in the price.
