Scarce Early 1900's Midwestern Pie Basket

Just in to The Yellow Garage Antiques is this unusual form Midwestern lidded pie basket dating from the early 1900's. The basket has two bentwood swing handles and is sturdily constructed with wooden slats and nails. The basket measures 12" in diameter and is 6 3/4" tall without the handles.

CONDITION: Good condition. The lid is very tight and the handles do not swing freely. One or two minor splits where it was nailed. Both handles have tiny teeth marks from an animal.

Not for everyday use, this basket would look great hanging from a beam or sitting atop a cupboard in any country home. A basket for the true basket lover.
