From a private collection is this amazing 18th C. inlaid tea caddy present by Yellow Garage Antiques dealer Jack Peoples. The caddy features inlaid marquetry decorations of tea equipage including the caddy itself, teapot, table with tea service, flowers, chair, tea tray, etc. Incredible workmanship! The interior has 3 original brass compartments with compass designs on top and the original blue-green silk lining to the lid. There is a working lock and key and the original bail handle on top with traces of the original gold wash and original brass hinges. The box has serpentine sides and a slightly domed top. Secondary wood is English oak with mahogany veneers and ebony, rosewood and boxwood inlays. We are attributing this box as European, probably French or English. This is the epitome of an early first class tea caddy.
