Offered for sale is this authentic mid-19th Century English 6 drawer apothecary chest in the original old finish. Each drawer has the original i.d. of the contents (in latin abbreviations) painted in black, yellow and red. The drawer fronts and case is of English oak, with pine secondary wood. The drawers are hand-dovetailed front and back with hand-chamfered drawer bottoms which are mortised-in and fixed with tiny square nails. There are some markings on the drawer sides, mostly numbers, from when this was in use in some chemist's shop over 100 years ago.
Measurements: 15" tall 11.5" wide 10" deep
CONDITION: Good Condition. Overall wear and distressing from normal use, age cracks in wood case, a few added nails on backboards, knobs are good replacements.
