This beautiful platter will make quite a statement in your china cabinet or on the dinner table. It has lovely painted fish against the blue-green sea with blue sky above, all bordered in gold. This is an old piece with the green 'Haviland France' mark which dates it from around 1894 - 1930 (Kovel's Dictionary of Marks, page 180). It likely dates from the 1910s as fish sets were highly popular at that time.
This platter is 24" long, 10" wide and 2" tall and weighs a hefty 4 lbs. 2 oz. The painting of the fish is in great condition but there is wear to the gold as you can see in the photos. Also, there is one very old repair underneath the left 'handle'. The repair was very nicely done and cannot be felt -- it can only be viewed from underneath. There are no other chips or cracks.
