Shakespeare's Works - The Savoy Edition by His Majesty's Printers Eyre and Spottiswoode
This is a truly beautiful book with gilt lettering, thumb indexing, marbled end pages and ribbon marker. In addition to the plays and sonnets, there is a 20-page introduction and beautiful pictures of the actors who played these famous roles during the early 20th century.
Condition is fair to good. All of the pages appear to be intact and the spine is tight. There are, however, damages which I have attempted to show in the photographs. The spine has broken on the front, top left corner (about 1 1/2" long). The front, top right corner is bent (and on the reverse is cracked on the interior which I do not have a photo of at this time). The front, right side has a tear (about 1/2" long). The back, top left corner has a piece of that has broken off (which I have retained in the event the buyer wants to attempt a repair).
It measures 8 1/2" x 5 7/8" x 1 7/8". There is no foxing whatsoever on any of the pages. There are some notes here and there in light pencil, but not many. The book cover looks like leather, but doesn't really smell like leather, so I cannot say that it is. If you have any questions, please drop me an email and I can provide additional photos if desired.
