This is lovely Limoges Soup Tureen made by Haviland & Co. subtly decorated with a botanical of greys and golds. The red underglaze mark and green H & Co mark indicate that it can be dated between 1876 and 1930. Condition is very good. There are no chips, cracks or crazing. There is wear to to the gold on the handles and lid, commensurate with its age. This would be a lovely addition to a holiday table or any other special occasion.
It measures approximately 11" long at its longest point, 8" wide and 7" tall (to top of the finial). The bowl is 4" deep. The capacity is 4 pints with about an inch to spare at the top or if you are daring, 5 pints with about 1/2 inch to spare. The interior is clean and white with no stains or crazing. There are a few very tiny dots about the size of a pin head in one corner (there is a closeup photo of this).
