Welcome to Mama Jo's House of Dolls!
This flawless and unusual German 4" lace ballerina was made in Aelteste Volkstedter Porzellanmanufaktur (Oldest Volkstedt Porcelain Manufactory) post-WWII but before 1972 when they added "VEB" to the mark. There's a number etched by her mark that looks like: V20023. She's probably 1950s-60s. Her face and pose are rarer than the other ballerinas I have listed from my grandmother's collection. She has lots of character! There are varying degrees of shading and condition on all of the ballerinas. Please view the photographs carefully.
For decades, my grandmother had a collection of 10 beautiful Dresden lace ballerinas in a shadowbox by her front door, instantly conjuring up a Degas painting and another era. They've all been carefully cleaned and restored to their former dust-free glory. I'm listing them individually. If you have an interest in more than one feel free to make an offer.
