Welcome to Mama Jo's House of Dolls!
This German 4" lace ballerina with a crowned N over "Dresden" is a mark used by the Sandizell porcelain factory in Bavaria owned by Hoffner & Co who started in 1951. She's from the 1960s or 70s. Her lace and flowers are perfect. No breaks or chips. Her flashy gold slippers match the gold trim on her pedestal. There are some very light age stains on her lace that I'm told can be easily, carefully removed. I'll leave that to someone with more experience. She has blonde hair, blue eyes, and a delicately hand-painted face. There are varying degrees of shading and condition on all of the ballerinas I have listed. Please view the photographs carefully.
For decades, my grandmother had a collection of 10 beautiful Dresden lace ballerinas in a shadowbox by her front door, instantly conjuring up a Degas painting and another era. They've all been carefully cleaned and restored to their former dust-free glory. I'm listing them individually. If you have an interest in more than one feel free to make an offer.
