Here is a beautiful rare pair of Coro cockatoo rhinestone fur clips dating to the 1940’s. They each measure 3 ½” high by 1 ¼” wide by ½” in thickness and have all hand painted enamel features including their beaks, wings, tails, branches and flowers. The clips are encrusted with over 100 sparkly pave rhinestones all set in a Rhodium metal. They are in very good gently used vintage condition for their age with only some tiny enamel paint loss at the end of one tail and a few spots on the flower pedals hardly noticeable but being mentioned to be accurate. One cockatoo is marked DES. Pat Pend. and both were designed by Gene Verrecchio, patented in 1941 and featured in American Costume Jewelry, volume 1, by the Brunialtis. These rare birds can be worn together although they can be worn separately as well. They have lived together for over 80 years or so and would a great addition to any woman’s clip collection.
