Here is a rare set of Art Deco Bakelite pear shaped salt & pepper shakers with metal screw off stems dating to the 1940’s. The red salt shaker measures 3½” high by 1½” wide- without the stem 2” high. The brown pepper shaker measures 3” high by 1¼” wide- without the stem 1¾” high. These salt & peppers are designed to lay down flat on a table leaning on the metal stems that screw on and off smoothly for refilling. FYI-the stem for the pepper shaker does not screw on completely flush to the top and does not affect the operation of the shaker in any way. These metal stems were specifically custom hand made in the 1940’s for each Bakelite shaker and they weren’t always precision fitting to the shaker bottoms. These shakers are in very good clean vintage condition with no chips or cracks only some very light surface scratches and some metal discolorations visible under magnification and consistent with age and gentle use being mentioned to be accurate.
