Antonio Reina Mexican Sterling Silver & Turquoise Cuff Bracelet

This is a stunning sterling silver and turquoise cuff bracelet that was hand wrought in Taxco, Mexico, circa 1940s to 1950s, by a well-known silversmith who signed his pieces, "AAR." These initials have been attributed to Antonio Riviera who worked for Margot de Taxco. Reina often made jewelry in designs that were originated by Margot de Taxco or Los Castillo. The bracelet is made of heavy gauge sterling silver in an Art Deco style that was created by the silversmiths at Los Castillo. A cuff-style bracelet, the center is studded with 21 magnificent turquoise cabochons that are in a raised bezel settings. It is unusual to see this design with turquoise as it is most often seen with sterling beads accenting the center. The color of the stones vary from blue to blue green to green. Dimensions: Inside circumference when closed: 5 1/2" plus back opening of 1", for a total of 6 1/2". Inside diameter: 2 1/4"; width 1 1/2". Weight: 42 grams. Hallmarks: "HECHO EN MEXICO, AAR, 925, STERLING, TAXCO". Artist "AAR" is shown in Billie Hougart's "The Little Book of Silver Trade and Hallmarks" (2006 Edition), p. 225.
