Los Castillo Mixed Metals Rufino Tamayo Parrot Pin/Pendant
This rare Los Castillo sterling silver, mixed metals, malachite and black onyx inlay brooch/pendant is in excellent condition. Circa 1950s, the versatile piece that can be either worn as a pin or pendant is inspired by a painting by Rufino Tamayo, the renowned Mexican artist. It is beautifully handcrafted of sterling silver,as well as copper and brass that is inlaid with malachite and black onyx. The front of the piece has a brushed, textured look. Measures over 1 1/3".
NOTE: Rufino Tamayo (1899-1991) was a legendary Mexico painter of Zapotec heritage. He was active in the mid-20th century in Mexico and New York, painting figurative abstraction with surrealist influences.
