This incredible pin is 5 inches long by 1-7/8 inches at its widest. It is unique among vintage arrow pins. Where do I begin? The shaft is a twist of textured and smooth metal ropes. The "feather" is filigreed silvertone metal with a pattern of studs of bezel set rhinestones. The arrowhead is almost baroque in its ornateness, but then there are indications on the back that this piece lands in time on the tail end of the Art Deco period.
On back, there is a mark "SUN," which could be the initials of the designer, craftsman, or a mark that has fallen by the wayside over the years (one major manufacturer of arrow brooches in that age had lines called SUNBEAM and SUN-KISSED). The clasp brings even more richness to this piece. Under the spinning safety clasp it is stamped "Pat. Pend." The stamp is on the clasp itself, which indicates the clasp is in the early years of safety clasps, dating this piece around 1938-39.
On the three outer corners of the piece, there are eye rings that could convert this brooch into a pendant, or the eye rings could be used to hang chatelaine chains and charms. The possibilities are mind boggling.
It weighs 1.2 oz (33 g).
