Vintage Cappi Goldtone Round Compact with Mirror Slides
This vintage Cappi compact is a delight! It has a unique patent puff protector dated 8/5/1924 and the date is stamped on the inside. This was made by the August Goertz company in 1923. The gold-tone case is decorated in a repousse design incorporating strands of flowers separated by the repeated word "cappi." One must look at the lid carefully while in your hand because it has the name Cappi embossed 9 times among the small flowers-a nice, subtle touch. On the interior, the patented mirror slides up to show the rouge compartment and slides back in place for closure. It is a lovely compact to give as a gift or add to a collection. The color on the lid is all the same shade of gold although, unfortunately my photography does not show that. There are a couple of color discolorations and scratches on the bottom as shown in the picture- although the picture makes it look worse than it is.
It is 2 1/4 inch diameter.
