Christian Hacker Three Story Doll House

Christian Hacker was one of the finest and most sought after doll house manufacturers in Germany. This beautiful example is from the latter part of the 19th century. Aside from its stunning architecture and soft muted sage green coloring, what makes this most special is its originality. All four rooms have the same original floral print paper, but in different colors. The upper left is coral, upper right blue, lower left green, and lower right pink. They also correspond to the papers on the inside front door. The floor papers which are original are two different but complementary patterns. Separating the upper rooms and lower rooms are doors paint decorated with their original ormolu handles. Likewise, the front door and balcony door have their original handles and the front door also has its knocker. The attic area is accessed by lifting off the roof and unlatching the side hinges. It also is papered and has two wonderful dormer windows. Most unusual in an antique house is to find the original curtains as found in this house. Though a bit soiled they are known to be original because Christian Hacker trimmed the top of the curtains with a paper that trims the walls. There are four glazed double windows on the front with their surrounds painted in classic Christian Hacker style. There is an age appropriate crack on the right side and two on the front door which do not effect the stability of the doll house, but rather authenticate it as original. There is also some paper loss to the roof and we believe that the two chimneys may be replacements. There is also some separation of the interior papers and some water marks on the walls.

The overall measurements are: 23" long X 12 1/2" deep X 28" high (not including the chimneys). The rooms are 11" X 9 1/2" and 7" X 9 1/2"
