We would like to offer for your consideration this wonderful antique miniature bombe commode with three drawers. It is a beautiful piece of miniature furniture, hand made in the 19th century with graceful, well executed lines. The marquetry inlay encompasses all surfaces of the chest and includes inlay banding. The design of the inlay on the center top mirrors the design of inlay on each of the drawers. The patina is very warm and smooth and appears to be burled or marbled. Even the back of the commode has a finished surface. The legs are splayed and the drawers have tongue and groove joints. The drawers open and close easily, in spite of the fact that the drawers do not have pulls. The drawers do open easily by pulling from the side edges. We have seen similar full size chests without pulls, and so do not believe that their lack of pulls was an oversight. It is of the scale to serve as a lovely furniture accessory for a 20" doll to display a very lovely French water set as we are illustrating; however, only the commode is for sale at this time. It is also a coveted piece of furniture for the miniature furniture collector as well.
The approximate measurements are: 14" wide X 7" deep X 10" high.
