This antique French miniature glass and ormolu vitrine is so incredibly beautiful and rare. Its unique size is also very appropriate for display with French Fashion dolls or in vignettes to accentuate French beauty and grace. That would be our adaptation, but actually this vitrine was created in the late 19th century to be a very special place to display a beautiful or memorable watch, as evidenced by the gilt hook inside. How lovely it would be for a beautiful French doll to be showcased in this vitrine today. The interior is fitted with the original tufted baby blue silk backing. Although the condition of the silk is age appropriate, there are several small spots in a few areas. The glass is thick beveled glass. It is in beautiful condition, except for a small crack in the corner of the top piece, as evidenced in one of the pictures. This slight imperfection measures approximately 1/2" and does not diminish the beauty of this piece. The vitrine closes with a spring type gilt metal clasp. Only the vitrine is offered for sale at this time.
The approximate measurements are: 8" to the top of the top of the gilt metal decoration; 4" wide; 3" deep.
