Pretty German Porcelain Figure of a woman. Circa: 1880's, measurements 6 1/8" high and 4" wide. Weight 9.9 oz. This is German hard paste porcelain rather than English soft paste porcelain. The faces are often a good clue as to where figures were made: English faces are usually very sweet with delicate coloring, whilst German figures tend to be more stylized with brighter coloring. This mark is a vague copy of a Meissen crossed swords mark, but is more likely to have been used by the Volkstedt factory. This figure would originally have had a male companion. Note in picture/s damage to hand, otherwise in good condition. Vibrant beautiful colors. This item has been professionally appraised.
