Dutch Oval Snuff Box With Hinged Lid/Top Engraved-Ca: 1790's

Pretty Dutch Oval Snuff Box with hinged top engraved with "Jesus Christ" carrying the Cross and a woman, and with the text: Kristus is het Geloof. This is a charming box engraved with pictures on both sides of box. The scene is Jesus carrying the cross and he is met by a woman. This can either be symbolic of the Women of Jerusalem to whom he spoke or to Mary Magdalene. The text is Dutch and translates as "Christ is Faith". Measurements: 4" long, 1-1/8" deep, 2-1/4" wide and wt is 3 oz. (Could have been used as a tobacco box) In good condition. Circa: late 18th century, wonderful piece of history.
