This very nice sized French Fashion shoulder head doll CA 1885, and is attributed to Barrois. It is marked "0". She is 11 inches tall and has brilliant cobalt blue glass enamel eyes, painted lashes and brows, a closed mouth with slight smile, and a blonde mohair wig over cork pate. French gusseted leather body with stitched separate fingers. Fingers are all present, although two fingers have spots that is typical of the wired fingered leather hands. There is no damage to the bisque head. Her original stiff muslin gown is accented with stiff black muslin inserts, some of which are deteriorating. There are many layers of clothing... a camisole top; half slip; bustle; and split pantaloons. Black fishnet stockings and black shoes with silver buckles. One shoe is missing the sole. Her costume is fragile, but I have added photos of her leather body which is in very good condition. The underclothing is in excellent condition. Her wig may not be original.
