This ruby and gold encrusted small covered tureen or sauce boat and matching underplate is one of the most extravagant that we have ever seen. It is marked G. Dumas, Limoges France. Additional information (translated from the French) indicates that the decoration is double gold applied by hand. The one inch decorative border has raised gold scrolling over a matte finish. Gold scrolls and dots overlay the ruby enamel. The diameter of the bowl is 5 1/2" and that does not include the handles. It is approximately 6" tall to the top of the lid finial. The underplate is 8 3/8" wide including the handles. Note there is no notch for a ladle on the lid. The piece is like new with no cracks, chips, or crazing. The gold trim is not worn. This piece of Limoges definitely makes a statement. Please e-mail us if you have any questions. Customer service is important to us and your satisfaction is guaranteed.
