Vintage Colorful Cross Stitch Embroidered Dresser Scarf c. 1950

Scarves and runners like this one were used to protect highly polished furniture and marble tops. Ours measures 18 ½ inches by 12 inches and is done in fine, light weight material (probably linen) with fine floss in varied colors of cross stitch with a blanket stitch finishing the edge. The embroidery appears to be done by hand. The runner is in good condition with only a slight blemish in the center area that is hardly noticeable. A similar runner made in China c. 1950 is featured in Marsha Manchester's book – "Vintage White Linens A to Z". If you love vintage, this item would be a lovely focal point for your vintage items!
