Pictured is a lovely painting of a red bird perched on a branch with a black background. On the back are the words "From Miller Jones made in Army Camp" in hand writing in pencil. During and after wars soldiers who were convalescing or waiting for battle created what has since become known as "Trench Art". Much of the work was done in metal and otherwise used materials found in the battlefield. Other items were handcrafts. This item which we believe is from WWI is made of a fairly thin material like a heavy cardboard. The background is painted black with a nicely shaded and beautifully flowered branch in the center of the piece. The red bird with a blue beak is done with very fine feathers on a piece of paper that is glued to the board. Measurements are almost 9 inches by 4 5/8 inches. Condition is quite good with some scrapes on the black ground and wearing on the edges. The detail is very nice. This item should be of interest to the collector of war memorabilia.
