Early Baltimore Sterling Repousse Coffee Pot

A wonderful early Baltimore sterling repousse coffee pot, complete with the 11 oz and sterling stamps on the bottom-we are unable to find maker's marks, but it has that wonderful quality and style associated with the best 19th century Baltimore silversmiths-Kirk, Jacobi & Jenkins, Welsh Bros. etc. This piece stands an impressive 12 1/2" tall, is 8 1/4" at it's widest point; the foot diameter is 4". Weight is 752 grams/ 24.2 oz troy. The floral repousse work is excellent; the applied spout and handle have attractive pressed pie crust hand worked edges, with the foot edge showing similar pressed hand work. There is a blank cartouche on the front of the pot, and it could have at one time contained a monogram-if so, it has been well removed, and is ready for your personal stamp. Condition of this 150+ year old beauty is excellent, as there are no major dents, dings or evidence of repair-only a few pinpoint/pinhead sized dings-one to the cartouche area, 3 to the smooth area above the foot, one to the spout and a couple of small nicks to the bottom edge of the foot- the piece stands evenly, and does not rock. Hinges are tight, and the piece closes evenly and firmly. No loose handle or spout, just a few expected cracks to the original insulator in the handle, which is wonderfully squared off. A super piece.
