This is an unusual cake stand. The top of the stand has the Daisy Button pattern on the plate. The buttons in the pattern are hexagonal hobnails, lightly raised. The edges of the plate are beveled with a clear glass icing lip. The stem has 3 large knobs. The base is domed but does not have the Daisy Button pattern. The pattern on the base features 4 flower petals.
The cake stand is 6.5 inches tall and is 9 inches square. The glass is very thick and heavy. Although the cake stand is very old, there is no discoloration in the glass.
Bryce Brothers operated a business between 1882-1891. This cake stand is a Bryce Brothers product. The base has a variation of the Argent petal pattern which was made in 1884. After 1891 Bryce operated as Factory B at U.S. Glass Company.
The last photo of a cake stand is of the Argent pattern made by Bryce to show the petal pattern on the base of the Daisy Button cake stand offered. These photos are courtesy of Gail's Antiques on an auction site, who agreed to allow me to use the photos as an illustration.
The piece has been black light tested and fluoresces under the UV. There are no chips or cracks. The cake stand has been gently used.
