This Harmony Kingdom Treasure Jest is called "Unexpected Arrival" and features three male penguins incubating the eggs while the females have gone to gather food. Two of the penguins are wearing either a necktie or a bowtie. The third penguin is in shock to see a baby alligator hatching from the egg. Um? Where has his wife been? This being an earlier design, there is no carving inside of the box. This box figurine is carved by Peter Calvesbert, and is one of the earlier ones released.
This Treasure Jest is a sample, or prototype (one of the first produced), and does not have the stamped Harmony Kingdom logo on the top of the lid, and does not have the inner hallmark logo. The first versions of this box had "PC 94" inscribed on the base, but this one does not. Other differences on this box that appear on later versions are ... the base is slightly thinner, there is no mouse, the alligator does not have eyes, and the coloring is more brown than light tan.
"Unexpected Arrival" was introduced in 1994 and retired in 2000.
Harmony Kingdom boxes are hand crafted, using marble resin, from original carvings. Then each is hand painted and tinted for a one-of-a-kind figurine. The boxes are hand painted by citizens of the rural English countryside of the South Cotswolds. There are differences in colorations on each piece.
This Treasure Jest is in perfect condition, from the inventory of a closed store, and it will come in the original Harmony Kingdom green box with brochure. This popular collectible is referenced in "The Harmony Kingdom Reference Guide" by Leanna Barron (2002), page 83.
