Collector's Vintage Leone's Italian Cookbook with Cover

Mama Leone open her first 20 seat restaurant in her New York City living room in 1906 at the request of Enrico Caruso himself, who loved her ravioli that he regularly brought the entire cast of the Metropolitan Opera to Mama's house for dinner. She moved the restaurant to the heart of Manhattan's Theatre District in 1917 where it drew hundreds of people a night for outstanding Italian-American food.

Her cookbook was written in 1967 by her son, Gene, using scaled-down versions of her restaurant favorites, and featured a forward by none other than Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Eight pages, feature remarkable black and white photographs including Harry Truman, Eleanor Roosevelt, General Douglas Mac Arthur with Mother Leone and son.

Hardcover and Dust Jacket are still intact. Pages and DJ shows some water damage along the bottom. The condition is good vintage.

Hundreds of recipes for soup, salads, vegetables, fish and poultry. Dishes for everything from light meals for two to sumptuous banquets.

Published: Harper & Row, New York, Copyright 1967.
