The American Hen milk glass covered dish, ca. 1900. This piece was inspired by the Spanish-American War of 1898. It depicts an eagle on a nest sheltering three eggs marked "PORTO RICO, CUBA and PHILIPPINES." There is a banner along both sides of the base that reads "THE AMERICAN HEN." The dish is marked "PAT APPLIED FOR" on the bottom of the base. It measures 6 1/4 inches long. The dish is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or other damage.
