This is an excellent example of the much sought after Atterbury swan oil lamps. The base of the lamp including the swan is a nice amber shade and the font is clear. The lamp comes complete with chimney and burner. The overall height (with chimney) is 19 inches. From the bottom of the lamp to the collar the height is 10 1/4 inches and the font is 5 1/2 inches at it's widest point. The lamps do not appear in Atterbury's catalogues between 1872 and 1881, suggesting these lamps were made either previous to 1872 or after 1881. For more information refer to Catherine Thuro's book, Oil Lamps III. The bottom of the base has the typical wear for a lamp of this vintage and is unique in that when made the base was not perfectly flat.
