2 Charming Antique 1894 Bisque Head Dolls in Great Outfits

What a wonderful pair of AM 1894 Antique 10" Dolls. This charming lass and lad was made by Armand Marseille and are the popular 1894 mold. This mold was used on many dolls made for the French trade and is of a very good quality. This darling boy and girl stand 10" with big blue and brown glass set eyes (in their original set), expert painting of very fine lashes and heavy feathered brows. Their bisque is of a good quality with nice coloring. They have open mouths with teeth. Their head cuts are very high and possibly made for the French market. He is marked 1894 AM 0/0 DEP. She is marked 1894 AM 16/0 DEP. There are no hairlines or repairs. There are no flaws to the bisque that I can see.

Both of these little darlings is on a papier mache body. They can sit and stand and are strung tightly to hold a pose. All fingers and toes appear to be present. He has painted boots and her shoes are quite lovely. They are painted and look very nice.

Their outfits are lovely and original. He is dressed as a peasant boy and she a peasant girl. Their clothing is made from a rough raw wool (looks itchy...) His hat is a tan flannel and her bonnet is a cotton.

He has a short blond mohair wig and she has a longer blond mohair wig. Both wigs are attached to the pates.

They would look great no matter where you display them! It is a rare treat to find dolls this age in such wonderful condition. And the fact that they have remained together for this long is really something to rave about! c. 1890
