Vintage 1960s Genuine Mother-of-Pearl & Coral Bracelet
The rectangular mother-of-pearl stones are graduated in size from the 10 x 20mm center stone to the 8 x 12mm end stones. The inner surface is flat while the outer surface is domed. When it's on your wrist, it feels like a ribbon of silk.
Each of the mother-of-pearl stones is separated by two 3-4mm coral beads. A triangle of three coral beads finish each end where they are joined by a metal spring ring clasp and eye hook.
The bracelet measures 7.5" in length, 7/8" wide.
The gold tone wash has completely worn off the metal findings with age. Ironically, age has only intensified the beauty of the gemstones. The mother-of-pearl glistens and invites a touch; the coral has taken on a slightly more polished patina.
Other than the worn finish on the clasp, I couldn't find any defects on this bracelet. The clasp works smoothly and holds securely. I would classify it as excellent condition.
You can tell by the photos that this bracelet is stunning. By sheer coincidence, I acquired this piece at the same time I was finishing a handcrafted genuine pink bamboo coral fringe necklace with Silver Mouth shells that I have listed in my collection. It's like they were made for each other even though one is over 50 years old and one is brand new... call it kismet. Please take a look at the necklace, too, and decide for yourself.
