17th Century Oil Painting of "Duchess Of Portsmouth" Attributed To Sir Peter Lely
This painting has been professionally restored with full conservation dossier available to the purchaser. It sits in beautiful frame with a gilt title plaque of "Duchess Of Portsmouth Sir P Lely".
On the back of the frame are a couple of old labels. One reads :-
"Newman Galleries Tradition In Art Since 1855 Philadelphia"
Another old auction card label reads :-
"Receipt/Item # 02-1121-1 Specialst: Cain Dept: 2nd Catalogued: £5000 Notes: Oil Portrait by Sir P. Lely"
I would assume it was auctioned in the UK in the early 70's or before, purchased by an American, restored by Newmans and I then bought it back to the UK.
