~ British WW1 1916 Mortar Clinometer Sight With 1918 Leather Case ~
Rotating the graduated cylinder adjusts the spirit level to set a mortar to fire at the correct range.
The frame is stamped 'T.COOKE & SONS LTD' with a '2' painted over it.
The end cap of the adjustment dial has the Broad Arrow and is stamped...
'CLINOMETER LARGE 1916 No 5219'.
The sturdy leather case, with front buckle, and carrying strap is stamped...
'CASE LARGE CLINOMETER MARK 1 W.SWART 1918'
to the top of the lid and there are 3 broad arrow stamps to the front face.
The clinometer sits perfectly in the case.
~ Dimensions ~
The clinometer measures approximately 7 inches (17.5cm) wide by 6.5 inches (16.5cm) tall by 2 inches (5cm) deep.
The total weight is 3.3Kg.
~ Condition ~
The frames black finish has worn mostly away. All mechanics are in good order. The case is in good order but the lid has become partially unstitched from the main case.
