~ Boer War Commemorative Plate ~
A bone china tea plate commemorating the Boer Wars of 1880-1902. The plate is of white china with a scalloped edge. To the front are two painted decorations. The upper depict two figures representing the Colonies Volunteers. They stand on either side of a crest with the Figure of Lord Roberts to the center. The lower decoration gives the names of some of the Lords and Generals who played vital roles in the wars. They include Roberts, Buller, Kitchener, White, Baden Powell and French. The names are in black and enclosed within a round of oak and laurel leaves. The rim is finished with a gilt gold. The plate is stamped to the rear "The Foley China England."

The plate measures 7 inches (18cm) in diameter and weighs 205g.
~ Condition ~
The piece is in very fair condition for its age and type the decoration is good with minimal wear to the gold rim of the piece. There is a small chip to the rear of the plate directly behind one of the front decorations.
