1912 Book Of Poems On Roses Illustrated
Signed 1911, this is a first edition by the Hayes Lithographing Co., which belonged to my grandfather. His name is in the front with the sweet name plate that he used on all his books. There are a number of poems, proverbs and prose about roses and beautiful chromolithographic illustrations on backgrounds of art nouveau trellises. I love the totally romantic and idyllic picture on the front of a cottage in a cameo imposed over the roses. As to condition, the interior of the book is perfect. On the front cover there was a stain on the top right corner which someone painted over. If it bothers you I think it is a perfect place for a victorian die cut of roses and a tiny girl among them, which I will include. This is a small book 7 x 5" and is a lovely display with your bigger dolls, on a pretty period table or a wonderful gift for a rose loving friend who will soon be starting a garden.
