Prelude sterling by International Silver is an elegant, slender and graceful pattern. First introduced in 1939 it exemplifies mid century simple and elegant lines with deeply carved flowers. The flowing lines and refined and understated decoration make this a pattern that says good taste and mixes well with many different settings and dining environments, Raised borders grace the fluted stems and enhance the sophisticated simple lines. This is a design which transcends eras, always in good taste and it remains a favorite today.
There is quite a bit of estate silver here and it is in excellent condition. A few of the butter knives and a few of the small serving pieces are the Prelude patterns but are a bit more delicate and may have been from an earlier set. Last picture. I didn't realize the difference until I was weighing everything. They naturally look fine being the same pattern. The comprised pieces are: 18 Tsp, 13 dinner forks, 13 knives, 13 salad forks, 6 soup spoons, 4 large spoons, 11 butter knives, 6 large serving spoons, 2 small ladles, 1 large meat fork, 1 cake server, 1 pickle fork, 1 spreading knife, and 1 small sugar spoon. All come in the pretty original mahogany box. The combined weight of the sterling altogether is 3,897 grams. PS: Not all the silver is in the box in the first picture so it can be seen better.
