Victorian Hand Painted Porcelain Gilded Roses Sash Brooch, Big!
From a recent Vt. private estate, this exquisite sash brooch had been handed down through the generations. The detail and color in this Limoges type painted vignette with the sky in the background is delicious. The watercolor background of teals blues and pinks in contrast to the clean edges roses is striking and somewhat nouveau. Cut in around the roses and tapering to a frame is the gilt paint, smooth and scratch free. There is just one small blemish on the right side, easily corrected if you object to it although I would leave it the way it is. This is very large at 2 and 3/8" x 1 and 3/4". On the back are antique numbers in the porcelain, 24.
