David Andersen White Enamel Sterling Silver Starfish Brooch

This starfish looks truly celestial in its elegant shape and pure white and gold colors, making one believe in the old myth that this first starfish was actually a star that fell from the sky. This star of the sea is a symbol of both divine love and rebirth or healing, since starfish can re-grow damaged or missing limbs. Looking beyond the symbolism, the beauty of this stunning brooch is, well, stunningly obvious. The fluid grace of the lines of the piece is so appropriate to the starfish, and so typical of the excellence the firm of David Andersen is world famous for. The pure white enamel seems almost to glow, as every particle of light is captured and reflected from every angle. The delicate gold colored bead border captures and outlines the starfish so gracefully while delicate lines underneath the enamel give fullness and life to this celestial beauty.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Some tarnish to the back, no other condition concerns. As seen in the photos, there is one very small dark dot on one of the legs. This is original to the piece when it was first made, almost like a beauty mark. Full hallmarks on the back, as seen in the photos, and all the fittings are original and in good shape. Measures 1 ½" wide by just over 1" high.
