A splendid Victorian taille d'epargné heart-shaped locket, exhibiting so many of the favorite Victorian features, that warm rose gold color, the slashing black taille d'epargné work on the front, and the dazzling hand-chased designs in the gold on the front and back. A slightly petite beauty, it is nevertheless a weighty one, leaving a pleasing touch when worn around the neck, though it would be suitable for a charm bracelet as well. When opened, there is plenty of room for a pair of miniature photos or a small treasure of your very own!
Condition: Good antique condition. No damage to the locket itself, a couple of very small chips to the black enamel, all visible in the photos. The bail may or may not be original, to me it looks more like a later addition, but there is no particular evidence of this, it's just a stylistic difference. Measures 1" (including bale) by 5/8". The rose gold outside is 11 kt rose gold, the inside is yellow gold filled. Upon opening you can see the line around the outside between the rose gold and the yellow gold-colored fill. Opens and closes easily and firmly.
