For your consideration is this stunning piece of porcelain sculpture depicting a pair of colorful exotic birds from the French porcelain firm of Bourdois & Achille Bloch. The parrot is hand painted in realistic jewel toned colors with applied flowers, and vegetation decorating the tree stump perch. Achille Bloch created lavish Rococo style pieces that were painted by his talented artists.
For many years, Bloch's factory was associated with Porcelain de Paris, a firm celebrated for its artistic excellence. They created pieces in pure white porcelain bodies with exquisitely painted details in the style of Meissen, KPM, and Sevres.
The figure quite heavy, attesting to the exquisite hard paste porcelain body. It is in excellent condition, circa early 20th century, with a few minor age related flakes to the to the vegetation. The birds made by this company are some of the most exceptional avian figurines we've ever encountered, and we're consistently amazed by their quality.
