Hummel's "Coquettes" was designed by Arthur Moeller in 1948 and first released in 1950. Two kerchiefed girls sit arm-in-arm on a fence rail, one holding flowers. Red flowers grow around the stump posts on which two little bluebirds sing. The "M.I. Hummel" incised signature appears at the back edge of the base. This figurine also bears the original paper label on the base. The underside bears the Goebel TMK3 mark, the "Small Stylized Bee" stamped in blue indicating the date period 1960-1972. Also present on the underside is the incised model number `179' and the number `41'. Book value for `Coquettes' with TMK3 is $270-$300 (Von Recklinghausen, "The Official M.I. Hummel Price Guide", © 2010) This lovely Hummel figurine measures 5½" tall by 4½ at the widest fence rail, and weighs 6.4 ounces. It is in excellent condition.
