TAXCO Mexico Sterling Puffy Heart Pendant TC-20

This free-form puffy heart sterling pendant is fully marked with "925 TC-20 MEXICO" indicating that it was made in Taxco, Mexico, by the twentieth artisan to register his or her mark with the last name beginning with "C." Registration began in 1979, and this low number indicates a registration early after compulsory registration began. No complete list of the Mexican silversmiths registrations exists, and while some pieces are signed, this little heart bail leaves no room for the full name. The whimsical heart weighs 10 grams (0.3644 ounces troy) and measures 1¼" alone, and 1½" including the bail. The back shows a few small bumps which look to be part of the manufacturing process. It is in lovely, bright condition.

Item ID: RL-230

A bracelet was recently sold elsewhere which was marked TC-20 MEXICO CORTEZ, linking the name to the registration TC-20. Alternatively, TC-20 is in the Morrill/Berk book "Mexican Silver" as the Taxco registration mark for Manuel Cardona Porcayo.
