Royal Doulton Character Toby Jug MERLIN Small D6536
Here is the iconic Merlin, wart and all. This Royal Doulton toby or character jug depicts the wizard Merlin, complete with flowing hair, beard & mustache, and the owl perched on his left shoulder, above a six-point star. "MERLIN" appears in raised letters under glaze on the back of the cap. The backstamp was in use from 1932 onward. This is Model No. D6536. The base bears the stamped mark as well as the letter "K" incised under glaze and the number "25" hand painted under glaze. The piece weighs 7 ounces and stands about 4 inches tall.
